Beach Head is a game I strongly associate with the Commodore 64, although in actuality, I have only ever played Beach Head II, and I only really enjoyed the knife-throwing scenario. Anyway, it was quite a surprise to find the original Beach Head for the PC-8801!

The game consists of five missions. The main game itself starts from this overworld map.

If you start from the overworld map, as far as I can tell, you can only select this as the first mission. Shoot the airplanes as they take off and approach your vessel, or as they fly across the screen.

I shot down a considerable number of planes, but it never considered my mission successful, so I had to access the rest of this content by using the "practice" option. This mission was probably my favorite, guide your ship through the threats strewn around this bay area. Making it through just the minefield would be fairly easy, but they shoot projectiles at you from two different angles so it makes it decently challenging.

Next is back to the ocean scene, but this time you have to attack the boats instead of the planes.

Another fun one, this time you are on land, guiding your tank through the battlefield.

And finally, the fortress. I am not positive, but I think you have to land your projectile into the moving highlighted target multiple times before the turret at the top of the fortress is pointed at you. It's quite a short window and I only ever managed to shoot the target once.

The box art is splendid. Unfortunately, the plastic cover was partially torn off and a large portion of the rear of the paper cover was faded.
