After assuming I would never find the gun for the MZ-1500's one and only light gun game - Real Gunman - I actually wound up being able to purchase two. The one pictured here was in substantially better condition.

It's my impression that the light gun is identical to the one Nintendo sold with the famicom. Indeed, it even has the Nintendo logo on the gun, although Nintendo branding doesn't appear on the box or in the software.

Hook the slightly fragile gun connector to the fairly inconvenient joystick connector on the back of the MZ-1500 and you're ready to go!

Shoot the bad guys, don't shoot the non-bad guys, kind of like Hogan's Alley but much less challenging. The rules of the game are fairly questionable and probably wouldn't fly in today's society. First, the native American character is considered a bad guy. The only non-bad guy is the woman. And get this - you can shoot three women *per round* before you're reprimanded for incompetence. As only one character appears at a time, and you have no noticeable ammo limit, the games doesn't start to get very challenging until round 8 or so, when they fire back pretty quickly.

This is what is going on behind the scenes, which is,I imagine, similar or identical to how the Famicom games worked. A white box is flashed around the target, and if the gun picks it up, it's detected as a hit.
