This is the second of three Joy Joy Packs. As its predecessor, it is a nicely presented, although cheaply packaged, collection of six QuickDisks containing utilities, study material, and a single QuickDisk with two games. Although it is cheaply packaged, the way in which it is cheaply packaged was changed quite a bit, and the end result was slightly better.

This one came with 12 slots for QuickDisks. So if you bought both, which may not be the wisest investment as there is a good amount of duplicate content, you could fit the contents of both Joy Joy Packs into this one case. Or even if you only bought Joy Joy Pack 2, you could still put other, miscellaneous QuickDisks into the spare slots. The original Joy Joy Pack, by comparison, didn't come with any slots at all, the QuickDisks just sat in place by some kind of foam material.

Joy Joy Pack 2 was perhaps geared more toward females, something that probably wouldn't fly in today's market. It contains a variant of the same word processor that came with Joy Joy Pack 1, divided into two sub-utilities: Love Letter and Date Diary. and another program called Mama Keeper, a sort of schedule management and budget keeper utility.

Because, you know, what use would a girl have for a word processor than to write about cute boys, and why would a woman use a computer if not to take care of her family? That's the 80s for you!

The same BASIC study QuickDisk that came with Joy Joy Pack 1 was included in 2, as well, but for extra studying, they included Study Mate, which quizzes the user across a variety of school subjects.

Purely for entertainment, they have Party Maker New, a spruced-up version of Party Maker from Joy Joy Pack 1 (I actually didn't realize until I started this blog entry just how much Joy Joy Pack 2 was lifted from Joy Joy Pack 1). It's bright and colorful and really adds a vibe to any party you may have. We can observe an attempt at a consistent look-and-feel between Study Mate, Mama Keeper, and Party Maker.

The games disk is different enough from Joy Joy Pack 1's games disk, fortunately. The A-side is a different take on Mario Bros., this one called Punch Ball Mario Bros. Stage arrangement is different and the mechanism for clearing the stage is wildly different. You don't bump your enemies from below, you throw a ball at them and they flip over on their heads for you to knock over. The B side is Nintendo Tennis. While a little pudgy in terms of movement, it's a playable game.
