There was a surprising amount of extra content on the FM Towns 1.1 L10 CD. I guess it shouldn't be that surprising, as they had space to burn (literally!), but it's a curious thing, computer manufacturers at the (1987-ish) rarely had 500MB+ of storage with nothing better to do than fill it up, so what would they come up with? Well here's Fujitsu's answer.

It boots up like any other Towns OS I've seen, with the splash screen followed by the main Towns OS interface screen. 1.1 seems a little more space consuming with its interface as opposed to 2.1, which was a bit more discrete and gave you more space for windowing tasks.

One thing they added was this launcher. It contains links to various content on the CD. One of them is a small collection of on-disk music, each song having its own image in the background with the player integrated into the menu bar and a few additional controls at the bottom. I didn't try everything but there was also an address book and a file browser that allowed you to see some of the contents directly.

And there was also a fairly long multimedia slideshow, in part telling a story and in part showing off the FM Towns in the (staged) wild.
