Kaeru Shooter is a game where you shoot kaerus. Kaerus is not a word, but kaeru is Japanese for "frog", and s is English for "more than one," so we can imagine that our job is to shoot frogs. But it's not just frogs, there are other things. I might imagine that the things are eggs and tadpoles, which is really kind of weird that shooting these things causes them to evolve into progressively stronger phases, but that seems to be Kaeru Shooter in a nutshell. The playfield is a 3D tunnel perhaps reminiscent of some scene from Star Wars or some similar space travel movie. Movement is simulated by the enemies getting "closer" to you (meaning, they get increasingly bigger). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have reviewed this game for the PC-8001mkII, and there is quite a difference. The PC-8001mkII only supports 4 colors in this mode, but the Pasopia7 supports all 8 (real) colors (real to distinguish from the hardware-dithered 27-color palette). I have also played this on the X1, and I really want to say that the playfield seemed to move forward, whereas the Pasopia7 and PC-8001mkII versions did not, but now I am starting to wonder if I just imagined that. |
