FP-1100の記事

Sometimes it can be a little hard to decide what category to put something in. I got this FP-1100 as a whole set. Oh! Actually, I lied! The FP-1100 in the photo below is my original FP-1100, because it's in much better cosmetic condition than the FP-1100 I received in this lot.

But I already have an FP-1100 with an article write-up on this site. So I thought I would include this in my blog's "monitor" category.

As monitors go, it's aesthetically pleasing. I love the white shell and the control placement. But it seems bigger than it needs to be, and I think it is exactly the same as the Pasopia7 official monitor (PA7165) but with a different badge and inner-bezel color. There's nothing special about the connections, just a single digital RGB connector. But the display does look good.

However, while digital RGB is usually quite useful considering the number of early Japanese machines that use it, they sabotaged this one by not putting a horizontal position control on the user-accessible side; I have connected about half a dozen machines and the ONLY one that is correctly positioned is the FP-1100. Everything else cuts off a bit on the left. I imagine there's an adjustment pot on the inside, but... that's convenient?! I looked it up in the manual and it indeed indicated that if your display is off to the left, the cause is that your "front porch is greater than 8.013 microseconds", which is technical speak for "too bad, get an FP-1100."

But what I actually want to focus on in this post is just how *cool* these machines look with their intended monitors. The FP-1100 is already a work of art, but look how this monitor just completes the deal. This looks so much slicker than when I connect the FP-1100 to my (admittedly very useful) NEC PC-TV455.

The story doesn't change. I would love to keep this, but there is simply no space and no monitor this could reasonably replace because it works with absolutely nothing else, so the monitor is already on the auction block.
