Dig Dug already had a pretty solid port for the FM-7, X1, and PC-8801, so I was a little surprised to see this re-release for the FM77AV. But honestly, if any of the three deserved a revamp, it was definitely the FM-7 version. They made good use of the FM77AV's features.

The intro tune is a nice rendition of the traditional Dig Dug song in FM sound, and it carries on into the music that plays as you move around in the dirt. And speaking of dirt, they also use the FM77AV's deeper color palette, giving a wider selection of earth tones instead of the vibrant colors that the 8-color palette afforded. And perhaps the best feature of all, the FM77AV has proper support for movement. In the FM-7 version, as was common for FM-7 games in the day due to its architecture, you have to press a neutral key to stop movement. In the FM77AV version, as soon as you let go of a key, your movement stops. Nice! I mean, kind of expected, but nice compared to the FM-7 version!

This was purchased as part of a big lot of software. Although I already have an MZ-1500 version of Dig Dug, I think I am going to keep this one, too, as it stands out enough from other ports.
