Tower of Druaga is a nice fantasy action game. You play as a knight wandering through dungeon after dungeon, killing enemies and/or avoiding their attacks. I've only made it to about level 4 or 5 at this point, and each level seems to offer new enemies, so that keeps it fun, but some of them add a considerable amount of challenge. For example, when they added one wizard with his ranged magic you need to block with your shield, it was just practice, the next level they have four of those wizards! Your shield is not enough, you have to seek shelter behind walls, too. It has some of the catchiest music I've heard on the MZ-1500. I'm not sure how it compares to other versions of the game, but it works its way into your brain and it also matches the environment of the game well. That, and the graphics look pretty good. But the one thing that makes it a bit tough of a play is the game speed. Each step feels laborious, and it takes a while to draw your sword or to sheath it. I think some of it is intentional so you have a bit of a challenge in switching back and forth between sword and shield. But I wish walking speed were a bit faster. Still, a very fun game! This is one of the Dempa Micomsoft games I picked up a while ago and came with box and instructions. A lot of (all?) Demp Micomsoft games come with single sheet of paper as instructions so that part's not very enticing, but I do like the box and artwork on them. |
